Since January 2018, he is an active Member of the National System of Art Creators (SNCA) of the National Fund for the Arts in Mexico (FONCA).

He composed the score for the film La Gran Promesa -The Grand Promise- (Beanca Films, 2018), directed by Jorge Ramírez-Suárez, which premiered to critical acclaim at the 32nd Guadalajara's International Film Festival. The score was conducted by Gavin Greenaway and it was recorded and mixed by Nick Wollage, becoming the first Mexican film score to be produced in England at the legendary Air Studios in London.He also composed the score for the film La Niña de la Mina (Leow Films, 2016), directed by Jorge Eduardo "Tocayo" Ramírez, and distributed by Videocine. In 2013, Rodrigo composed the music for Televisa's homage to Roberto Gómez Bolaños and the El Chavo franchise. That same year, he also composed the score for the film Guten Tag, Ramón(Beanca Films, 2014), directed by Jorge Ramírez-Suárez, distributed by 20th Century Fox in Mexico, Germany, the U.S. And Latin America, where it has been acclaimed both by critics and audiences alike. The score was performed by the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra SIF309, and it was recorded and mixed by Nick Wollage at SIF309 in Sofia, Bulgaria and at AIR Studios in London, UK respectively. Winner of the Silver Goddess for Best Original Score (the equivalent of the Golden Globes in Mexico) and nominated for Best Score in the Drama category at the Reel Music Awards 2014. The score was released digitally in May 2015.

Rodrigo is a rising voice in film within a generation of new composers - with two Master's degrees in film composing - one from the University of Bristol and the other from New York University. He also studied composition at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada and at Northeastern University in Boston. He studied a bachelor's degree in music, specializing in composition and piano at the Universidad de las Américas, Puebla in Mexico. He was a selected participant at the 2004 NYU/ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop in memory of Buddy Baker.

Rodrigo has amassed more than fifty credits in all kinds of productions. He has written music not only for film and television, but also for the theater, dance, and the concert hall. His music has been performed throughout Europe and the Americas.He has composed for companies like Beanca Films, FOX, Leow and Comuna Films, Televisa, Videocine, TV Azteca, DoComo USA, TV UNAM, Mexico´s National Dance Company(CONACULTA), among many others.
