Kronos Records presents Encontrados a NYC (Met In NYC) telling of three friends in their early thirties, who tired of their meaningless life in Seville, in a strange set of events end up traveling two days to NYC, where they will discover the city and more important, themselves.
Spanish composer Sergio Pena who is fluent both as composer for screen and also as song writer was the perfect choice to score this film. He has penned a beautiful and elegant score. The dramatic music is warm and intimate as the characters are whereas the more urban and jazzy music resonates perfectly with the city they traveled to find themselves into.
A lovely score featuring pianist Abe Rábade.
Not to miss.

REVIEWS
Friendly and nice creation with environmental and dramatic music. The first is substanced in some songs (not from the author) and urban themes that resonate with the New York environment. The dramatic music -which is the best of the film- is intimate but very clear and transparent in its attempt to highlight the goodness and innocence of the protagonists, who are united under the same musical umbrella. Its main theme, beautiful and elegant, starts in a germinal and austere way to be opened as the film goes on, and in the process the composer insertes moderately disturbing elements that speak of fragility and jog, but the positive is dominant and just definitely ends prevailing. Other themes, some of them of warm jazz, follow that line and is notable the use of the piano.
"Met in NYC" is one of those curious cases in wich the music is really much better than the film. Anyway, even being a good movie, it would be almost impossible overlook this excelent soundtrack. With great sensitivity, Sergio Pena, has composed some beautiful melodies that become in leit-motivs that give meaning to the whole story. With sober and elegant arrangements, Pena alternates guitar and piano as solo instruments, giving us his personal and respectful version of the clasic and melancholic atmosphere of New York. Without any doubt, a film based on a play by Capote, and of course, better than "Met in NY", would have been a more appropriate destination for this score. After working tirelessly in many short films and documentaries, Sergio Pena signs his second feature film with obvious talent, and I wait anxiously his next job.
